About

Oscar Cass-Darweish is an artist, creative coder and web developer with an interest in the struggle for autonomy in our daily interactions with hardware, software and code. Through artworks, interdisiplinary projects and workshops their practice demonstrates the value of artistic methods as tools for interrogating and refiguring human-technical relationships. Experimental digital interfaces for artworks function in participative formats, responding to embedded surveillance systems that shape day-to-day online/offline spaces and experiences.

Co-founder of Compiler - a platform for digital art, curation, and critical technical practice - he has exhibited and delivered workshops and events nationally and internationally at venues including The Women’s Museum - Barking, William Morris Gallery - Walthamstow, Vivid Projects - Birmingham, Kiblix - Maribor, Tate Britain, Tate Exchange at Tate Modern, V&A South Kensington, Eastside Projects - Birmingham and Internet Age Media Weekend - Barcelona. As a web developer he has produced interfaces for art related projects in connection with organisations and institutions such as York Mediale, Abandon Normal Devices, MK&G Hamburg, Nationalmuseum Stockholm, Ubersee Museum Bremen, Birmingham City University and University of Westminster amongst others.
