Beneath Our Footsteps

Beneath Our Footsteps is an interactive, collaborative web-based artwork and project about the hidden Philley Brook river, which runs beneath the streets of Upper Walthamstow, Leytonstone and Leyton in London.

The project is produced by the digital art collective Compiler, in collaboration with different groups of local residents, sound artist Brigitte Hart, psychogeographer John Rogers, and equalities designer and researcher Natasha Trotman.

The 3D environment in the artwork is derived from open source maps and data and participant input. The result is an artistic representation, showing the Philley Brook as we have experienced and imagined it during project activities.
